What are the skills most sought by companies?
No CommentsThe skills most sought by the directors of European companies are: the ability to work as a team, adapting to new situations, communication skills and language skills are the most valued qualities when hiring workers with higher education, according to the Eurobarometer survey.
The Eurobarometer survey published by the European Commission (EC) shows that almost 50% of companies identified the international dimension of foreign language knowledge as “most important skill for the future.”
According to European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, Androulla Vassiliou, the results show that companies consider a “wide mix of skills” when hiring new workers.
He also expressed his commitment to “support the efforts of Member States to improve higher education and vocational education, and promoting opportunities for study and work abroad.”
According to published agency EFE, the Eurobarometer survey shows that previous work experience is considered a critical value for 87% of employers.
When asked what the university curriculum would choose, 39% of employers who responded that includes an internship in specific sectors as part of the curriculum.
However, only 12% of companies said often cooperate with universities in designing curricula.
However, there is more cooperation with respect to hiring college graduates.
When asked about the best way to cooperate with universities, entrepreneurs show great fondness and preference for internship programs (51%), followed by direct recruitment by the universities.
More than 7,000 recruiters who work in public and nonpublic companies in 31 countries (EU-27 plus Norway, Iceland, Croatia and Turkey) were interviewed by telephone for this survey.
